Slab sawing is like wall cutting, except instead of cutting a vertical wall, you cut into the horizontal floor. You use a slab saw when you need to cut into concrete floors, bridges, roads, or anything flat made of concrete. One person will operate the slab cutter, which allows them to walk behind the machine as it cuts into the surface.

A common reason to use slab sawing is to repair broken plumbing underneath a concrete floor. You may also use this technique when you want to add in plumbing, for instance, if you add a bathroom into your basement. Finally, construction projects require slab sawing to remove concrete, breaking up large areas of concrete in roads or driveways to make the concrete easier for hauling away.

Core drilling is most commonly used when a circular hole is needed for passage through a concrete structure or surface, is most typically used for drilling holes for plumbing and pipe work and for electrical and/or HVAC installation purposes.  Other reasons for choosing the core drilling method would be feeding telecommunication lines or for anchor bolts.  Holes can be drilled at multiple orientations, including vertical, horizontal and inverted or angled penetrations.  The core drill is also portable and can be hand-held or mounted for drilling purposes.
